📚PAINTING PEPETTE -Linda Ravin Lodding, Illust Claire Flectcher
☕️☕️ 2.0 #KristiCocoas The artist in me appreciated this book. I'm not sure the littlest shorties could sit through it, as it is a bit wordy, but it's such a fun idea. And you might even recognize a few famous artists from history! It was a mouthfull at first, but the consonance became fun in my mouth. #kidlit #recommended ACTIVITY IDEAS: Try looking up some works of these artists as you read! Compare the bunny version to their quintessential works! Have all the shorties try drawing the same object (turkey, pumpkin, stuffed animal, flower, etc.) and talk about how they don't have to be the same and they can still be good!

📚 + 🎨 LOVE BY SOPHIA -Jim Averbeck, Illust Yasmeen Ismail
☕️☕️☕️ 3.5 #KristiCocoas 📚 First, love that the teacher's name is Ms. Paradigm. Second, love the end notes and the way that information is incorporated into the story -it's fun for the adult reader as well as the shorties. Third, a fabulous art lesson and interpersonal relationship lesson on perspective. 🎨 ACTIVITY: collect a few familiar objects from around the house (pencil, mug, book, chair, etc) and draw them from one perspective and then change the object to draw from another. You might even make a guessing game and see if other family members can identify which two pictures are the same object! An easier version for your shorters is to take a photo on your phone of two different angles. You can also make this a guessing game with an unfamiliar perspective first with guesses as to what it is followed up with the photo of a more familiar perspective! #kidlit #recommendedreading |
